God, I hate that word. There is so much baggage associated with it and until recently I didn't even really apply it to myself. I've always just been "a woman." It is accurate, though, so I guess there is no avoiding it.

This is not a transsexual blog. It is the blog of a pretty run-of-the-mill woman with a quirky sense of humor. There will be some transsexual stuff weaved in, no doubt, because-- well, just because. Hopefully that will be a smallish part of it. If it's not well, then, sorry. It is what it is. I'm going to write about whatever fancies me at the moment.

I never even thought about having a blog but people keep telling me, "you need to write a blog." So-- ummm..., here it is!

I Have Been Contacted By A Television Production Company In The UK…

…who would like to film Annie’s and my wedding, the preparations for it, as well as some other footage capturing the essence and challenges of our relationship.

They’re doing it on behalf of Channel 4, in the UK, and have asked me to review some YouTube clips of similar work that they’ve done in the past. Their stated goal is to destigmatize transsexualism and they seem to be proud of their track record, so far.

The produced a series in the UK, last year, called “My Transsexual Summer” and wish to follow that up with “My Transsexual Wedding.”

Did any of my UK readers happen to catch the last series they did on channel 4?

Thanks for your help!

  2. tiny-bee said: I caught a few minutes of one episode when it was on catch up, but not enough for me to form a judgment. I heard decent things about it though. Of course it wasn’t perfect (re: its goal), but from what I’ve heard it was a very good effort.

  5. tongue-tiedtight said: Doing that might jeopardize any situations where you are still known as Not-Chelle, but if they can do the two of you justice, then all the best :)

  8. blatherlikeme said: A lot of British TV has a proactive stance about gay/bi/transsexual acceptance. They actively include those types of relationships in their characters. And they don’t soft shoe it like the US, they normalize the reality by showing in fiction on TV.
