They’re called “singkamas,” there, and are usually served with shrimp paste (bagoong). Have you had them before?
Now that I think about it, I’ve got some bagoong in the ‘fridge, so I’m going to have it with another jicama, later!

God, I hate that word. There is so much baggage associated with it and until recently I didn't even really apply it to myself. I've always just been "a woman." It is accurate, though, so I guess there is no avoiding it.
