God, I hate that word. There is so much baggage associated with it and until recently I didn't even really apply it to myself. I've always just been "a woman." It is accurate, though, so I guess there is no avoiding it.

This is not a transsexual blog. It is the blog of a pretty run-of-the-mill woman with a quirky sense of humor. There will be some transsexual stuff weaved in, no doubt, because-- well, just because. Hopefully that will be a smallish part of it. If it's not well, then, sorry. It is what it is. I'm going to write about whatever fancies me at the moment.

I never even thought about having a blog but people keep telling me, "you need to write a blog." So-- ummm..., here it is!

$240 Nike Sneakers

Nike was supposed to release a new line of sneakers, today.

In anticipation of that event, people started camping out in long lines several days ago.

In Staten Island the line wrapped around the block.

In Orlando it took 100 police officers— many wearing riot gear— to control the crowd as it got close to opening time.

Some wanted to buy the sneakers for themselves while others planned to resell them for $2,000.

For security reasons, many stores responded by pulling the sneakers off the shelves and telling everyone to go home.

I guess I must just be out of the mainstream, because:

1) I wouldn’t pay $240 for any pair of sneakers.
2) I wouldn’t camp out or stand in line for a pair of sneakers.
3) I wouldn’t even pay $100 for a pair of sneakers.

That is absolutely ridiculous to me.

Now if they were selling Christian Louboutins for $240 that would be a completely different story.

And all the women who stood in line and started riots would be completely justified, in my opinion.

I mean, come on. Christian Louboutins? $240?

  2. puddingfire said: I spent $180 on my sneakers, but they were a) a brand I’d bought before and b) I ordered them online and c) they last forever, so they’re worth the price tag. Nikes? Not in any sense so great as these…
